Grotte de la Salamandre
Welcome to the Kingdom of the Crystal Giants. Opened to the public for the first time in 2013, the Grotte de la Salamandre is just as much for those who enjoy sightseeing as it is for those who seek a variety of sensations or are in search of an unprecedented adventure.
Share your emotions through the five tour options:
- The Belvedere, with its incredible panoramic view and wheelchair access (unique in Europe);
- The Guided Tour, a fascinating one-hour journey through an enormous space adorned with splendid titanic concretions, concluding with a dazzling sound and light show;
- For adrenalin-seekers, the Grand Rappel: a 50-metre descent to discover the immense hall from the ceiling, with friends or family. Emotion guaranteed and... shared!
- Les Coulisses de la Salamandre: 2h30 of caving in the Grotte's hidden chambers, a captivating tour that's fun, aesthetic and a little sporty all the same.
- Aeroplane Flight: an experience like no other in the world
Every week, the "Immersion" show invites spectators to wander freely through the Grotto on a visual and auditory journey, featuring the Grotto's monumental concretions to the rhythm of film music by great composers.
Ongoing events punctuate the life of the site, including the Trail des Avens, unusual tours and the many concerts offered in season.
Outside, an eco-responsible site of great beauty: the reception structure made of local wood, nestled into the cliffside, houses a pretty store selling original items, as well as a refreshment bar offering tasty products to be enjoyed on the magnificent terrace overlooking the wild, unspoilt garrigue.
In the immediate vicinity, the accro-bambino allows the little ones to experience their own adventure on a suspended course surrounded by safety nets.
Last but not least, the Rivière au Pépites will delight young and old alike with a fun gold-panning experience.
