Mont Nivigne - Crêtes du Lomont

Circuit n°86
Cross the Suran. Turn left onto the Chemin du Moux. Go to Chav. le Petit, at the top of the hamlet, go down to Chav. le Grand. Cross the Suran, the D 42 and start the ascent to Mt Nivigne. Take to the right, then to the left, gain the crest (cliffs). To the right. Go down to the cave of the bear (very steep and slippery, rope on a part) then to the meadows of Giriat. At the big rock, take on the left the GR.59 which goes up on the right (ruins of the castle of Lomont) and gain the crest and the pass of Justices. Take the path crest of the Cabatane and go down to Chavannes by path on the left until the road. Turn left and join the 87 on the right.
Variations and junctions :
- V30: Chav. le Petit, follow n°87; after the D 41, go up to Ceillat by "Chemin des Ânes". Under Ceillat, turn right to get back to n°86 or near the Col des Justices, on the left, reach the crest and go down to Chavannes and n°87.
- V 31 : Grotte à l'ours, continue on the ridge until the signal of Nivigne, go down to Pouillat (" Tour du Revermont "), follow it - 2h00 / Lasserra, junction n°88.
