Le Dragon Sous-Roche

1. Descent into the Volferine gorges / Pierre Percée site. The telemechanical pillar at the Pont de la Chèvre served as a relay for the cable that spun a mill wheel from a turbine. At the exit of the gorges, on the flat of the pasture, take the Sous Roche path to the right. Enter the woods, then turn left to follow the “Prés Carrés” path which arrives at the Domplomb tunnel. The latter leads to the great Domplomb bend. Here we find the descent path. You can also cross the tunnel to join the Dragon trail at its exit.

2. At the exit of the tunnel that you have just crossed, go down the path to the right. Before the Dragon Bridge, we spot the remains of the customs gatehouse. From the bridge, you can admire the fish ladder necessary for the trout to cross the dam.

3. At the Ferme du Dragon (former grocery store located on the edge of the free zone) turn right and continue along a good path to the Sous Roche “electric” factory which “electrified the tram” Cross the Valserine on a footbridge .

4. Steep climb of 20 minutes
At the level of the climbing cliffs, stairs and a small bridge over a resurgence allow you to reach the wood and then the pasture. We find the path of the Volferine gorges for the return to the car park.
