Originally from Bulgaria, Nikolay Ivanov began his percussion studies at the age of 11 with Simeon Srafimov, one of the country's most renowned teachers, and went on to win several first prizes in international competitions.
His career as a soloist opened the door to numerous percussion competitions, including the IPEA in China, where he won first prize.
He also has an active career as a chamber and orchestral musician, having performed with the Paris Percussion Group and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
