"Canto Nobile" baroque concert

In the monodic "new music" of the early seicento, two personalities stand out: Jacopo Peri (1561-1633), a Florentine of noble descent, and Sigismondo d'India (c.1582-1629), who introduced himself as a "nobile palermitano" in the preface to his first book of Musiche (1609). In many ways, they are similar: their music expresses the nobility and lofty ideals of the recitarcantando.

CONCERTO SOAVE
The ensemble dedicated to Baroque music, founded by María Cristina Kiehr and Jean-Marc Aymes, celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022. With an international reputation, it has made Marseille its home base since 2007.

MARÍA CRISTINA KIEHR
Trained by René Jacobs at the Schola Cantorum in Basel, she was soon invited by the greatest conductors and the most prestigious ensembles. To hear María Cristina Kiehr sing pre-Baroque Italian music is to plunge, through the magic of her timbre and the eloquence of her phrasing, into a universe where the splendor of the texts is sublimated by an expressive art of declamation.

ROMAIN BOCKLER
Trained at the CNSMD in Lyon, where he obtained his Master's degree (summa cum laude), then at the Studio de l'Opéra National de Lyon and with Cécile de Boever, Rosa Dominguez, Margreet Honig and Yves Sotin. His baritone timbre and unique experience of ornamentation render this "noble song" masterfully.
