Sculpture: La Grande Echelle

This large sculpture in reinforced concrete and dyed in the mass is a satire of desire for power over the primitive society. The main structure consists of a large couple that form the A of Africa. This is beset by a multitude of small figures whose function and precarious balance symbolize different human characteristics in our society. Born in Philadelphia (United States) in 1922, Semser lives and works in the region of Paris since 1949.
