Sculpture "Le Cerf" de Toros

In 2013, the Bois des Naix celebrated its tenth anniversary. It was on this occasion that the town decided to acquire this work by TOROS. A sculpture that fits in perfectly with the history of the wood, once home to many deer.

The Bois des Naix is a natural area shaped by man. It provides a remarkable backdrop for this work, which overlooks a long rectangular pool in a French-style layout. The location chosen by Toros allows the stag to stand proudly between the intertwined branches of the surrounding trees. The statue stands out for the apparent, almost naive simplicity of its forms, reminiscent of Douanier-Rousseau's paintings. It is the only statue entirely depicting an animal in public space. Toros has put a great deal of care into this brass-leaf creation, such as the animal's antlers, which took over three months to complete. This naturalistic theme shows that throughout his life, after the recognition of the genocide, Toros gradually turned to less serious subjects, more conducive to contemplation, and always in search of beauty.
