Sougey Bresse bocage, ENS de l'Ain

This natural site stands out for its rural architectural and hedgerow heritage. The Domaine du Sougey comprises some 50 hectares of meadows organized around listed buildings and a network of hedgerows, also of historic interest.
Over 6 km of hedgerows mark the site's identity.
The site also hosts numerous cultural events. The Bresse Nature et Jardin association employs some fifteen gardeners on integration schemes, and is developing organic market gardening below the Sougey farm. Since 2016, a breeder has set up at Le Sougey to develop a Bresse poultry farm.

The Bocage Bressand du Sougey has been awarded the "ENS" label by the Ain department. These ENS sites are genuine natural and landscape jewels of the Ain department, preserved through local management and made accessible to as many people as possible when the fragility of the site allows.
