Lac d'Aiguebelette

3rd natural lake of France with its 545 hectares, the lake belongs to the De Chambost family and EDF (French electricity provider).
Its riverbanks and its triangular phreatic table where you can find two small islands in the south remained wild and preserved.
Classified as a Nature Reserve in 2015, the Aiguebelette lake is made of a remarkable ecosystem and natural areas both classified and protected.
The ecological diversity and the water quality of the lake is guaranteed by 70 hectares of reed beds, pastures, wet afforestations and aquatic plant habitats.
Very appreciated by fishermen, the lake is surrounded with typical boathouses, a unique heritage in Europe. Several protective measures are implemented and boats with combustion engines are forbidden in order to protect the purity and the beauty of the water.
